I would't worry about the weight. My friend's daughter is 5 1/2 and still between 26-30lbs. She's just a peanut. As for the speech I understand what you mean. My daughter couldn't even say her name till she was 2 1/2. She had trouble with the cluster of sounds. I was so worried this year since she would be in a "regular" class I didn't know how it would be with her teacher. So far it's going good. Sometims she has trouble unstanding her because she talks fast, but over all she is improving tremoudsouly. I remember age age 2 when she would point to things and make this "uh uh" sound and then we had to figire out what she was talking about. It'll get better as he gets older and has more sessions with the speech therapist. Don't you love early intervention. My peds. tried to tell me her speech was fine and then at 2 1/2 I put my foot down (since I found out on my own that early intervention existed) and said they had to give me the number. Since it gets cut off at age 3 by the time they came out to my house she was only going to get 3 sessions and I got them to do at least 6. Since I had time before preschool started I used to drive her 40 mins. away once a week for like 2-3 months (no where near me would even see her for 6 months). We do what we have to do. At least now days there is help.

I'm glad he's doing better. Did you have a lot of peole tell you prior to gettig help that "he's just a late talker, he'll be talkign before you know it". I sure did and one day I stopped listening to them because I knew my daughter needed extra help. I myself was in speech class in 1st grade so I wanted to catch it before it got to that point. Does he have troubel with certain sounds or kind of everything? My daughter now is still working on her "f" sounds. When she stops and speaks slowly it comes out great. Unfortunatly she's a fast talker like me and I even have people ask me to repeat myself...lol!

I just came across your profile and thought I'd say hi being that we both have kids with speech issues. My oldest started pre-k and it was a 2 year problem labeled "Self Contained" also known as special ed. She went there to get speech therapy. She is now in "regular" kindergarten and still receiving speech therapy at shcool. What a difference it has made. She still has some issues, but has improved tremedously. So that's my story, hi:)

Hi! I am Jennifer (Jenn for short!) I am a single mom of 2 great kids. Aubrey is 8, and just started the 3rd grade today (9/4), Zachary is 3 but will be 4 in November. He's going to start preschool on Thursday!
I am an attachment or natural parent - IE the name ;) Smart huh? Though I am Jaz_Trio everywhere else (Jenn, Aubrey, Zachary and we are a trio!)
I own my own business, and work from home - Zachary has some sensory and speech problems so it's nice being able to help him all the time! Not to mention being here when Aubrey gets home from school!
This place looks fun - cant wait to explore more!
