Back in the old days, (Yes, the old days) being a woman and being single seemed to be not the norm. Well, times- they are a changing. Did you know that more people are staying single all the way until their 30's? That puts me right on track! There are a 100 single million adults who have never been married, right now in the US. So, you are not alone! Being single is a lot different from years ago. It used to be "poor me I'm single", where not it's "I choose to be single". Here are some fun facts on being single.
Single women of a 'certain age' are no longer considered old maids or spinsters.
Single people are healthier. It's said that they tend to look at themselves through the eyes of a potential partner, causing them to stay in shape and remain healhty. Married couples often gain 10 lbs the first two years of marriage.
You're more likely to acheive great things when you are single, this isn't to say that you can't do it while you are married, though. A recent study found that male scientist who stay single longer, reach a higher peack in ther careers. But for both genders, hormonally while you're single, your primed to achieve.
Singles are also better rested. They generally get 45 minutes more of sleep than married people.
Singles are less stressed because they have more contact with friends. On average, singles spend about 14 hours with friends a week. Married people only spend about 5 hours with their friends. Strong social ties boost immunity and reduce stress.
So, if you are feeling down in the dumps because you are single, hey look at all the perks! :)
Did you know that the words that you choose could have a huge impact on how fast your home sells? Choose your words very carefully.
Listings with the words "beautiful" and "gorgeous" sold 15% faster.
The word 'landscaping' sped up the sale 20%.
Saying that the property was in "move-in condition" sped up the process by 12%.
The terms "motivated" and "must sell" slowed down the process by 30%!
They seem to be arriving by the thousands every month. How sad is this. Many animals are being turned over to animal shelters because their owners are facing foreclosure. The sad thing is that a lot of people are turning their animals loose into the streets when they lose their home.
According to USA Today, animal shelters in high foreclosure areas are getting the brunt of it and there’s a growing concern that more pets could be on the way – due to a rough economy and the rising unemployment rate.
Take the necessary steps in order to keep your furry friend from going to the animal shelter:
Don't set your pet loose to roam the streets.
Don't leave them in the empty house.
Inside pets do NOT do well in the 'outside' world. They are not accustom to living on their own, looking for food or fighting with other animals.
Check with local shelters for temporary assistance. Many places will watch after your pet until you find a new home.
I ran across a few things today that could possible keep your home from not selling. While I laughed at them, someone might actually be having trouble with this. Here are some things that keep a home from selling:
Spiral Staircase- While it's cute to look at, it's not cute to climb. My friend had a spiral staircase and she couldn't get her laundry up to her room. She came up with the great idea to live them over the balcony with a rope. So, yes a spiral staircase could keep your home from selling.
Too Small- I think this might be the most common. I can only assume that two bedroom homes are the hardest to sell. People are usually looking for "at least" a 3 BR/2Ba. In order to sell, you will probably have to make your home look as big as possible. This involves staging your home and getting rid of clutter.
It's Got A Fuse Box- These days people are expecting circuit breakers. You might want to upgrade in order to sell your home.
No Air- Conditioner- Yes, when I heard this I was like, "Say what"? Obviously there are houses at there that do not have air-conditioners. Putting in the money to get an air conditioner would be totally worth it and believe me you'll make that money back as soon as you sell your home.
Laundry Room In Basement- Older homes seem to have laundry rooms in the basement. Now-a-days it's more common to have them inside the home. No one wants to go into the deep, dark and damp basement to do their laundry. Ooooh, scary! lol Get your washer and dryer back into the house!
Cuddle- I know some of you guys are twitching at the thought of this. It's so easy to cuddle in the beginning of your relationship. Of course, after years pass it's so easy to forget about cuddling. It's time to bring back the cuddling! Did you know that holding each other produces the bonding hormone, oxytocin?
Separate Bank Accounts- Some of you might be screaming at the computer screen right now. Say what? For years, it seems that having a bank account together is just something you do after you get married, right? Research says that if your relationship is strong you should have your own bank account. Of course, you would probably want to have a joint account for family finances. To keep separate credit histories and for personal purchases, you should each have your own account. It might can get tricky having two people balancing a checkbook and trying to keep up with what the other one is spending.
Alone Time- Hello! We all need this. No matter how much we love each other, no matter how busy we get- this is so important. It's so easy to have a loss identity when you get married and have kids. Don't lose your identity. Keep your alone time and stay true to who you are without forgetting who you are.
