I'm rewriting my serial fiction journal and turning it into a book. Go take a look and let me know what you think. http://journal.marshaloftis.com
It’s hard to remember what day of the week it is when you don’t have a job. I think I have had enough vacation. I can’t believe I am going to say this but I’m ready to be employed. I need organization and purpose. I used to schedule my household duties around my work schedule. Without a work schedule I am lost and unorganized. I need a reason to get dressed and fix my hair. This morning, I showered, made coffee, checked my email and then sat around all day in my sister-in-laws house and watched people on TV talk about their ungrateful relatives, roommates and business partners. It’s just occurred to me that I haven’t fixed my hair or brushed my teeth today. I’m on my sixth cup of coffee,.. I think. Good gracious, somebody rescue me.
My in-laws are generously letting us stay in their home as we job hunt and house hunt. We appreciate their kindness. They are feeding us well, much better than we deserve. We are hoping we don't have to stay too long, even though they have said we could stay as long as we need to. They are a family of five and we are a family of 6. 11 people in a four bedroom house is a lot. I have always loved relatives coming to visit but there comes a point when you are glad to see them go. I don't want to overstay my welcome.
Ethan is sleeping on the fold out couch in the livingroom. The boy could sleep thru a hurricane and would stay asleep on the couch all day if I let him. I make him get up the moment the house begins to come alive.
Stephanie is on the fold out loveseat in Grandma's room. She is usually up bright and early. She likes to steal my coffee. One day I'm going to show her how to make her own.
Morgan is sleeping in grandma's bed. Morgan loves grandma's bed. Grandma usually wakes up in the middle of the night and moves to her recliner to sleep for a couple of hours. Grandma has done this for as long as I can remember.
Rachel is sleeping on the top bunk in Zoe's room. I honestly forget the child is there. Out of site out of mind.
Ken and I have private accommodations we are residing in Mackenzie's room. Mackenzie is at her momma's house.
I'm usually one of the first people awake in the house. I want to run to the kitchen and make coffee but I'm afraid to make noise. I didn't have to worry about noise today my brother in-law was already awake. He made the coffee. My routine in the morning is to drink coffee, check my email and then begin my search for a job and my dream house. We have looked at 12 houses so far. None of them suits our needs. It would be nice if I could mix and match; that yard with that house in that location. I received three phone calls about employment yesterday. The only message taken was that the employer would call back at a later time. {grrr}
I tried to call the numbers left on the phone but the numbers went no where. I guess I will wait.
My husband and I spent yesterday looking in the Knoxville (Karns) are for a home. I must say that Karns is a beautiful area. As we drove around we gathered the fliers on display in front of the homes that were for sale. Today we are meeting up with a realtor to take a look at some of these homes. I love house hunting. It's incredibly fun. I just hope we can find one that meets our needs and price range.
I am still job hunting. No takers yet. Lets spread my name around. My resume and education are in the side bar of my blog! If you have an opening where you work let me know. I don't really know what I want to do when I grow up.
I have missed most family get togethers over the years. We tried to go home at least once a year but that wasn't always possible. Most of the time we lived too far away. Today we are going to my Uncle Tommy's house. I expect to see lots of relatives and eat lots of great food.
My parents live in the country. Lots of green grass, trees and bugs. It feels good to be home, in spite of the ticks that keep finding their way to my person. All the kids are totally grossed out. Morgan yelps in fright every time she sees any bug at all. Last night there was a moth in our room. the way Morgan was acting you would have thought it was going to eat her. :)
