Today's verses speak so insistently to me this morning - all about behavior - what I need to be aspiring to!

Proverbs 16: 13 - 14
Kings take pleasure in honest lips
they value a man who speaks the truth

A king's wrath is a messenger of death
but a wise man will appease it

The first verse is something I strive for - I want always to have what comes out of my mouth be trustworthy - being honest and truthful will always lift others up - and myself in the process. It can also get me in trouble - but only with those to whom it is not of value. The wonderful thing is that I know God will take my poor efforts and make of them something only He can do!

The second verse just kinda flows from the first - and putting it into my world - when someone is angry and comes spewing it at me, if (and that is one huge word) I can remember to listen and return a kind word, something that lets them know I can see where they are coming from - the anger evaporates! The huge thing is for me to remember to do that, and not just react in the same anger - which is far easier, but has disastrous results.

So - got my assignment for today - and will be working on these words for a good long time! Good food for thought!
