A brand new week - and I always look forward to seeing what it will bring...and what I will learn from the verses I read!
Proverbs 14:28-29
A large population is a king's glory
but without subjects a prince is ruined
A patient man has great understanding
but a quick-tempered man displays folly
The first verse here obviously doesn't apply to our life here and now - but it does point out how things get measured. In those days, the success and reputation of a king rested with how many people were under his rule. I need to take a moment to think about how I measure things in my life. What are my standards? What do I hold up as the ideal?
The second verse seems to tell me to slow down a bit - to take the time to really understand something before I assume I know all there is to know about it. So often, I read something and think I've covered all the material - and later find out that I'd only scratched the surface. So....if I slow down in the first place, and take the time to explore - how much more is there in there for me to learn and have become part of me - keeping that thought right up front today!
