Sometimes I feel like I'm still such a newbie to this whole blogging/podcasting world. For example, I'm struggling with this whole meme concept. I recently got "tagged" a couple of times, so I tried to pass around the posts and "tag" other bloggers and ended up feeling full of regret and a bit confused.

I'm the kind of person who feels reluctant to help sell my daughter's Girl Scout cookies by asking my friends to buy some (so I never do) or ask anyone to support our school by buying the various fundraising items we're asked to sell (or have our kids sell).

I thought the whole meme/tagging thing was supposed to be a light hearted, fun game-like endeavor, so when I heard someone describe it as a hug from one blogger to another, that warmed my heart and made me feel inspired to jump on the bandwagon. I love hugs.

But then I discovered a bit of grumbling about memes (and, hey, I totally relate, b/c I really don't get the point). I mean, I've always groaned when friends send me (or my kids) chain letters, so I shuddered when a fellow blogger asked whether memes were like chain letters. If they were going to be viewed that way, then call me a hypocrite. So, I looked around quite a few blogs to try to get a sense of what they were all about and came up with some other ideas.

Some bloggers seem to be relieved when they get them, because it gives them something to write about. I guess that would be the type of blogger who feels a need to get something up there on his/her site as often as possible (many people feel a need to post everyday, right?).

Other bloggers seemed to like them b/c it gets them exposure and linkage. Sort of a networking concept at work -- I'll let my readers discover you by giving you very brief props (often just a link or a clickable name) and I'll do that without asking too much of you. Then you can tell a few (or many) friends and so on and so on.

I also thought it could be a fun way to find out a few (very few) fun bits of info about people whose blogs I really like or who seem like interesting people that I would like to know better.

But then I came full circle right back to where I started. I guess I'm just uncomfortable with memes. I squirm at the thought of making someone angry because I tagged them (I think I did that in this particular circumstance). There are a few things in life that are just beyond me and I'm just going to chalk this up as another one of those things.

So...I've decided to take the second post off my main blog (where someone told me (and I have to agree) it didn't really seem to fit with the rest of my main bmg blog content) and post it here (at least for a little while). I didn't want to delete the whole thing, b/c that seems like an insult to the person who originally tagged me.

I know, at this point you're thinking, whoa, you've got waaaaay too much time on your hands, girlfriend. Go take those Christmas decorations down or something. Play a game with your kids.

And you're right. So, I'm done. Thanks for listening.
