I miss the days of college and photo groups...anyone interested in creating a photography assignment where we give ourselves a certain amount of time to shoot on a particular subject (could be anything...reflections, animals, abstract, people, study in red, whatever), share them here and have a critique session?
Nothing like feedback from your peers.
Sounds like fun exercise. Count me in.
I'd like to have a go at this as well.
As for Topics or subjects - well that's where I am not sure about it at all.
Between the responses here and to the original group question that went out this is shaping up to be a fun learning experience!
We'll have to decide on a few things:
1.) the topic to shoot
2.) the time frame we have to shoot
3.) how we want to go about posting our new photos and critiquing
I'm totally open to anything...
As to number three, my thought is we start a new 'Assignment Submitted' thread and post there when we've uploaded our photo to our page. If we want to be more personal and inform people individually by stopping by their pages that's even better.
Thoughts?
how about one picture per person per subject rather than more than one, take as many as you want and post just one, the one that appeals to you the most... subject matter???? something that will be available in every city, village and town of the world for we are an international crowd.
doors windows people dogs trees flowers plants whatever... how about pics shot with imaginative angles and points of view...
One Image sounds about right to me for each assignment.
I definitely agree, Pari, one photo per subject. It's part of the process...picking the one best image from your shoot and presenting it.
And yes, critiquing can be difficult. You put it perfectly, Jackal...it's important that we are both constructive AND honest. It's wonderful to hear how beautiful your image is, but it's helpful when someone suggests, say, that it might be even stronger if it were cropped differently.
Do we like the idea of this being a weekly feature? Should we go longer so it doesn't become burdensome? I was thinking monthly myself, but I'm open to whatever.
Welcome Evenstar Art! Love crossing communities! I started in moms, but as photography is my passion and, like you, keeps me sane I was drawn to this group.
How about Geography for the first one? Then we can see everyone's surroundings as we are around the world.
Great idea! How about we broaden that and call it "Our Environment?" For the urban/suburban dwellers.
